We’ll then contact you for a 30 minute call to get details. We’ll then write up the design and estimate costs and send theses details to you. We will indicate approximate timescales too. Of course all this is FREE. Assuming you agree we’ll then move to design.
Firstly we’ll ask you to pay a deposit in line with the estimate and issue you an invoice. Then we will create a design, style, wood, colour, motifs etc. for you and ask for feedback. You have three iterations of design review in the design cost. This pahse ends when you sign off the design.
Now we set to work! We source the materials, do detailed design work such as 3d models etc. We form the wood from basic wood components, turn it, apply the epoxy and 3d printing as required. Each project will be different. During the project, you will receive regular updates. If there are any issues we discuss the preferred way forward.
Tada! Your final piece is ready. Our goal in the first 3 pages is to ensure no surprises now and so we know that you will be happy with your piece. We will now issue an invoice for the finished piece and ask you to pay. Then, we will send the piece to you.
Lets say you find a plate you like, you might want a set of plates, you might want a matching smaller plate of you might want a cup too. This type of commission is our full process including epoxy and 3d design (or decoration) with varying sizes and colours as you require. We expect sets to be 20 pieces or less. Because it is a redesign of an existing piece, the design phase is shorter but making the set can take a moderate time.
You have a wedding or party coming up and you would like every guest to have a beautfil hand made wooden bowl or plate to impress. You might need 50 or 80 of these. This is a big order and we simplify it by not adding an motif, 3d design or decoration, though simple epoxy decoration is possible. Each item is identical (well the wood patterns will be different of course) in size and shape. The design phase is usually very short, but making your pieces can take a long time.
Typically you want something just right for you, your home or someone you love. It has to be exact and it has to be right. Normally the design phase takes longer and acquiring materials may take some time (lets say you want Pink Ivory handles!). The creation phase is all about matching your specification and we will often ask detailed questions as we progress. In the end you have a work of art, just the way you want.
